Expert Guidance for UC and CSU Applications

California Public Universities

The UC application is unlike any other college application โ€” eight essay prompts, a detailed activities and awards section, major-specific admissions, and campus-by-campus selectivity that makes strategy essential. This package is built specifically for students applying to the University of California and California State University schools who want expert, hands-on coaching through every part of the process.

What’s Included

  • Up to 5 hours of one-on-one coaching with a credentialed, NACAC- and HECA-affiliated college counselor, structured around your student’s timeline and goals.
  • Brainstorming and topic selection guidance to help your student find the PIQ response topics that are the most authentic, compelling, and distinctive.
  • Three rounds of detailed written feedback on each PIQ response: covering content, structure, storytelling, style, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Activities and awards list development for the UC application โ€” descriptions that go beyond titles to showcase depth and impact.
  • Help completing every section of the UC application accurately and strategically, including course entry, major selection, campus preferences, residency, and the Additional Comments section.
  • CSU application guidance โ€” completing Cal State Apply, including course entry, supplemental information, and campus-specific sections.
  • Personality and values assessments via Soar to inform your PIQ approach and activities narrative.
  • Full access to Soar, our AI-powered college and career planning platform, for students and parents throughout the program.

We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule โ€” you can do this by emailing your coach, using your email confirmation, or via the calendar invite. Life happens, and we’re flexible. Unused sessions don’t roll over, so we encourage families to reschedule rather than skip when possible.

This package focuses specifically on UC and CSU applications โ€” the Personal Insight Questions, activities list, and application sections for those systems. The CommonApp personal statement, supplemental essays, and CommonApp application sections are not included. If your student is also applying to private or out-of-state schools via CommonApp, our CommonApp Coaching Package and the Intensive Support programs cover that work. Some families book both the Common App and California Public University packages, or the Intensive Support program that covers both, as well as supplemental essays and profile development; others start with the application type that covers the majority of their schools.

The UC application is a single application that covers all 9 UC campuses โ€” you apply once and select which campuses to consider. The same is true for Cal State Apply across CSU campuses. So 5 hours of coaching goes a long way. The PIQ feedback (12 rounds across 4 essays) covers the UC essays that every campus sees. Campus-specific strategy โ€” major selection, campus ranking, Additional Comments โ€” is included in your coaching sessions. It also covers applications to the Cal Poly campuses – like Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Pomona.

This package is designed for juniors and seniors who are actively preparing for or in the middle of the application process. Junior spring is an ideal time to start โ€” your student can begin brainstorming and developing their personal statement before senior year applications open in August.

Essay coaching, including for the UC Personal Insight Questions, is the core of what makes LifeLaunchr different. We use a structured multi-step process: first helping your student identify the right topics and angles, then working through drafts using our proprietary essay tools and courses. Your coach provides up to three rounds of detailed written feedback on each of the student’s personal insight question responses. Learn more about how our essay process works โ†’

Intensive Support fees are non-refundable, and we want to be transparent about why.

  • First, we limit enrollment, so every student we take on gets the attention they deserve. When we accept your family, we’re reserving coach time and turning away other families who could have had that spot. That commitment runs both ways.
  • Second โ€” and just as important โ€” we never want our coaches to feel any pressure to tell families what they want to hear. Our job is to give you honest guidance, even when the honest answer isn’t the most comfortable one. A refund policy that depends on your satisfaction would work against that.

If you have questions before enrolling, we encourage you to book a free consultation first โ€” that conversation is always free and comes with no obligation.
