A Strong Application, Built From the Inside Out

Common App Coaching package

This package is designed for students completing the Common Application who want expert support on their personal statement, activities list, and every other section of their application. Whether your student is just starting to brainstorm or already has a rough draft, we meet them where they are and help them build something they’re proud to submit.

What’s Included

  • Up to 5 hours of one-on-one coaching with a credentialed, NACAC- and HECA-affiliated college counselor, structured around your student’s timeline and goals.
  • Brainstorming and topic selection guidance to help your student find the angle that’s most authentic, compelling, and distinctive.
  • 4 rounds of detailed written feedback on the student’s Common App personal statement: covering content, structure, storytelling, style, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Activity list development using Soar and LifeLaunchr’s proprietary process โ€” strategic descriptions that showcase depth, growth, and impact.
  • Guidance in completing every section of the Common Application โ€” Profile, Education, Testing, Activities, Additional Information, and more.
  • Recommender strategy โ€” identifying the right teachers and counselors and coaching your student on how to make the ask.
  • Personality and values assessments via Soar to inform your essay approach and activities narrative.
  • Full access to Soar, our AI-powered college and career planning platform, for students and parents throughout the program.

What We Work on Together

Every student’s application is different. Here’s where coaching time typically goes.

Personal Statement

Brainstorming, drafting, revising, and polishing your essay from first idea to final submission.

Activities List

Crafting descriptions that go beyond titles to show who your student actually is and what they’ve contributed.

Application Sections

Completing Common App Profile, Education, Testing, and Additional Information sections accurately and strategically.

Recommenders

Identifying the right people to ask and helping your student make the request effectively.

Testing Presentation

Deciding whether to submit scores, understanding test-optional and test-blind policies, and accurately entering the student’s testing history.

Additional Information Section

Using this often-overlooked space to provide context, explain a difficult circumstance, or highlight something the rest of your application doesn’t capture.

Soar Is Included at No Extra Cost

Every Common App application family gets full access to Soarโ„ข โ€” our AI-powered college and career planning assistant.

Students and parents can use Soar between coaching sessions to research colleges, explore majors and careers, discover scholarships, and track everything in one place. Your coach sees the same information, so sessions are more focused and productive. Available on any device, any time.

College Research

Explore academics, culture, cost, and special programs at 1800+ colleges across the country.

Exploring Majors and Career Paths

Understand all the careers a major can lead to, and the paths that lead to a particular career.

Finding and Tracking Scholarships

Find college-specific scholarships and explore 6,700+ scholarships offered by private organizations across the nation.

Prepare for Meetings

Review any questions before meetings, as well as seeing session reports and your coach and parents’ research.

You’ll schedule sessions either through your coach’s personal booking link, available in the student’s Soar dashboard, or directly with your coach after the first session. Sessions are 30 minutes and held monthly via Zoom. Learn more about making the most of your work with LifeLaunchr.

We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule โ€” you can do this by emailing your coach, using your email confirmation, or via the calendar invite. Life happens, and we’re flexible. Unused sessions don’t roll over, so we encourage families to reschedule rather than skip when possible.

The CommonApp Coaching Package focuses on the personal statement, activities list, and CommonApp application sections โ€” the foundation every school sees. Supplemental essays vary widely by school, and on this package, we don’t work on them. Our coaching time is designed around getting the core application as strong as possible. We provide guidance on how to approach supplement prompts, and additional coaching sessions are available at $112.50 per 30 minutes for students who want hands-on help with specific supplements.

UC and CSU applications use a completely separate system โ€” the UC application and Cal State Apply โ€” with different essay prompts (Personal Insight Questions) and different sections. If your student is applying to California public universities in addition to Common App schools, our California Public University Application Coaching Package covers that work. Some families book both; others start with the package that covers the majority of their schools.

This package is designed for juniors and seniors who are actively preparing for or in the middle of the application process. Junior spring is an ideal time to start โ€” your student can begin brainstorming and developing their personal statement before senior year applications open in August.

Essay coaching is the core of what makes LifeLaunchr different. We use a structured multi-step process: first helping your student identify the right topics and angles, then working through drafts using our proprietary essay tools and courses. Your coach provides up to 4 rounds of detailed written feedback on the student’s Common App personal statement. Learn more about how our essay process works โ†’

Intensive Support fees are non-refundable, and we want to be transparent about why.

  • First, we limit enrollment, so every student we take on gets the attention they deserve. When we accept your family, we’re reserving coach time and turning away other families who could have had that spot. That commitment runs both ways.
  • Second โ€” and just as important โ€” we never want our coaches to feel any pressure to tell families what they want to hear. Our job is to give you honest guidance, even when the honest answer isn’t the most comfortable one. A refund policy that depends on your satisfaction would work against that.

If you have questions before enrolling, we encourage you to book a free consultation first โ€” that conversation is always free and comes with no obligation.
