With more than 20 years of experience in education, I hold a master’s degree in education and counseling and have spent the past six years as an independent educational consultant. My background as both a high school English teacher and undergraduate academic advisor enables me to support students with a thoughtful, highly individualized approach to college planning.
I taught for over a decade at one of California’s top-performing secondary schools, specializing in British Literature, World Literature, and Humanities. During that time, I developed a widely praised personal statement curriculum designed to help students discover and articulate their authentic voice through reflective writing.
At UC San Diego, I advised undergraduate students on academic planning and experiential learning opportunities, including research, internships, and fieldwork aligned with their academic and professional goals.
As a college counselor, I guide students through every stage of the admissions process, including college list development, application strategy, essay brainstorming and revision, scholarship and financial aid planning, and the pursuit of summer, research, and enrichment opportunities. I have extensive experience advising students across a broad range of disciplines, with particular expertise in STEM fields such as engineering and computer science, as well as business and premedical pathways, especially neuroscience, biology, and medicine.
Students I have advised have earned admission to highly selective institutions, including Harvard, Penn, Brown, Cornell, Michigan, UT Austin, UNC Chapel Hill, Virginia, Boston College, Wellesley, UC Berkeley, UCLA, NYU, USC, and Tufts, among many others.
I believe that the strongest college applications emerge from genuine self-understanding combined with thoughtful strategy. My work centers on helping students discover and articulate who they are, what they value, and how their experiences, interests, and aspirations fit into a compelling admissions narrative.
Through a reflective and highly individualized process, I guide students in presenting themselves authentically while also making strategic decisions about how to highlight their strengths, academic interests, and fit for their intended major. Whether a student is pursuing engineering, computer science, business, premed, or another path, I help them identify and emphasize the experiences, achievements, and qualities that demonstrate both preparation and potential. My goal is to help students make a clear and persuasive case for admission while remaining true to themselves.
Equally important, I provide structure and accountability throughout the process. I work closely with students to establish timelines, set meaningful deadlines, and stay on track with applications, essays, scholarships, and supplemental opportunities. By breaking a complex process into manageable steps, I help students reduce stress and approach admissions with confidence and purpose.
My coaching style is empathetic, collaborative, and results-oriented. I strive to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to do their best work. I view college counseling not simply as an application process, but as a developmental partnership that helps students build self-awareness, direction, confidence, and decision-making skills that extend far beyond admissions outcomes.
As a proud Bear Mom, with my eldest daughter attending University of California, Berkeley, I carry a deep appreciation for academic excellence, curiosity, and determination.
Outside of my professional life, I am an avid reader, writer, traveler, and tennis player. I also enjoy spending quality time with my husband, my two daughters, and our beloved rescue dog, Bella.
