I believe students already possess the answers to their questions within themselves, and simply need a patient coach and calm listener to help them discover those answers. My aim is to bring out the best in every student. I'm able to listen without judging and to help students and families move on to next steps. In our coaching sessions, I will involve the parent(s) initially and ask them to take a supportive role as I work with the student. I ask students to take responsibility for attending meetings and coming up with a mutually agreeable schedule. Once our schedule is set and we start meeting, I will send reports to the family so they know what part of the process we are working on.

I see myself as the student's advocate, and give positive, honest feedback throughout.

I was selected as a non-fiction contributor at the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference at Middlebury College, August 2010. I've had a short piece published in the Washington Post Magazine. I enjoy writing articles, opinion pieces, and poetry. I've been a musician my whole life: singer, violinist, and flutist. I was a violin major my first two years of college, and I sang soprano in a semi-professional church choir in Washington, DC for five years (2011 - 2016). Writing articles and blog posts, as well as performing music, are essential parts of my life. I grew up near Asheville, North Carolina.
