Benefits of One-on-one Test Preparation Tutoring
One-on-one tutoring is by far the most effective way to raise your test scores. It allows you to receive a custom program tailor made for you. When working with Sy one-on-one for test preparation, you’ll first work with her to choose a test (SAT or ACT). Then you’ll set goals based on your own personal strengths and weaknesses, current test scores (or PSAT scores), grades, and college aspirations. You’ll learn about the ins and outs of the test, all the basic strategies, as well as strategies that work best for your learning and test-taking styles. After each session, parents and students will receive a detailed session report outlining the content of the session, successes and challenges, and listing next steps.
All sessions are 1.5 hours in length unless otherwise agreed upon and are all conducted remotely. Students should expect homework between sessions as well as occasional full-length practice tests. Gains are highly dependent on student motivation and commitment to completing assignments outside of sessions.
Test Preparation Options
Students who wish to work with Sy one-on-one through LifeLaunchr have 2 options for tutoring:
- Hourly Tutoring: Hourly tutoring is best for students who need just a few sessions to brush up on specific content areas or pick up some last minute strategies. This is generally for students who already have high test scores and don’t need extensive prep. Students who use up their 12-hour package and want to add additional hours may do so at the hourly rate.
- 12-Hour Package: The 12-Hour package includes eight 1.5-hour sessions. It is designed to provide a discounted rate to those students who need full prep. Note that 8 sessions isn’t always enough, and that number of sessions varies greatly with the student.
